What is PPIA?

The Public Policy and International Affairs Program (PPIA) is a not-for-profit that has been supporting efforts to increase diversity in public service for more than 40 years.

PPIA believes that our society is best served by public managers, policy makers, and community leaders who represent diverse backgrounds and perspectives. To achieve this goal, PPIA has a focus on students from groups who are underrepresented in leadership positions in government, nonprofits, international organizations and other institutional settings.

PPIA believes that our democracy will be stronger, less polarized, and more trustworthy when we ensure those entering public service are more representative, compassionate, and inclusive of American identities and global experiences.

What is the Expo?

PPIA's Public Service Expo allows students and professionals to connect in-person with employers, fellowships, and the country's top public policy and international affairs graduate programs! Exhibitors participating in the expo share PPIA's commitment to increasing diversity and fostering inclusion in public service.

Recognizing the importance of networks, the expo provides a crucial meeting point for hundreds of students and professionals each year to exchange ideas, information, and inspiration. The expo also offers students attending PPIA's Junior Summer Institute, at Princeton University and Carnegie Mellon University, the opportunity to meet each other and connect with program alumni in Washington, DC.

Who Should Attend?

The Public Service Expo brings together representatives of the nation's top public policy and international affairs graduate programs and employers seeking highly qualified individuals committed to public service under one roof. Undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals can benefit from the expertise and guidance they can access through this event.

Why Attend?

Learn about the graduate school admissions process. Attendees of the expo receive unparalleled access to decision-makers in the admissions process at the nation's top policy schools. Prospective applicants can ask questions about various policy programs and what makes a strong candidate before applying to programs aligning with their interests and careers.

Find internships and jobs in public policy and international affairs. As many graduate programs emphasize career experience as an essential part of a competitive application, the expo encourages attendees to visit employers that offer information about careers and internships in public service.
