New Year New Career Hiring Event

The District of Columbia’s Department of Human Resources (DCHR) announces the New Year New Career Hiring Event on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 1015 Half Street SE #9, Washington, DC 20003.  On-the-spot registration will not be accepted for this event.

The event is free, and preregistration is required. During registration, candidates will choose up to two positions for consideration. Upon entry candidates are encouraged to visit all participating agencies with roles that are aligned to their skillset. Agencies will review resumes and may preschedule interviews for candidates whose qualifications match the positions. Please note that an interview is not guaranteed for all participants.

District Government agencies may offer immediate job positions to qualified candidates. If immediate offers are not extended, agency representatives may reconnect within a few weeks, pending necessary suitability prescreening. Some agencies have specific security requirements, so on-the-spot offers may not be possible at the hiring event. Please refer to the list below for agencies with additional requirements:



 

Pre-Registration begins Friday, January 31, 2025, 12:00 p.m. – Friday, February 7, 2025, 11:59 p.m.

Applicants will have the option to claim an additional preference(s); see below for a comprehensive list. Verification of the preference will be confirmed by the hiring agency. For a list of acceptable documents, please visit the District of Columbia Department of Human Resources website.

  1. A District resident, for additional details on qualifications click here
    • Anyone claiming District residency preference at the time of application should bring a DC government-issued form of identification and/or a combination of four substitute proofs of residency. For more information on how to prove residency please refer to the District’s Personnel Manual
  2.  A Veteran, Spouse of a Veteran, or eligible Survivor. For additional details on qualifications click here
  3. 18 to 21 years of age and is currently or was a Child and Family Services (CFSA) foster care recipient within the last five years.  For additional details on qualifications click here
    • Applicants claiming a foster care preference will need a letter or other documentation from CFSA or the Family Court of D.C. Superior Court to validate a current foster care status or showing the date court supervision ended.
