Fairfax County Public Schools is one of the largest school divisions in the U.S. with 198 schools and centers. We serve a diverse student population of more than 180,000 students in grades prekindergarten through 12, speaking over 200 languages.

Substitute Instructional Assistant Description

Substitutes are important to the success of the total school program and are expected to perform in place of the regular scheduled employee as directed by the school administrator. Substitutes are expected to support the FCPS mission to inspire, enable, and empower students to meet high academic standards, lead ethical lives and demonstrate responsible citizenship. Duties may include a variety of paraprofessional curriculum and instructional tasks to support teachers and other professional staff in a general or special education classroom or learning environment and assisting with the daily management of the students and classroom.

Substitute Teacher Description

Substitutes are important to the success of the total school program and are expected to perform in place of the regular scheduled employee as directed by the school administrator. Substitutes carry out all duties assigned to facilitate the instructional process and to provide for a safe, educationally productive environment in the classroom, the school or the workplace. Substitutes are expected to support FCPS's mission to inspire, enable, and empower students to meet high academic standards, lead ethical lives and demonstrate responsible citizenship. Duties may include the planning, delivery and assessment of instruction, communication, human relations, safety and management of a classroom or assigned instructional setting.

Student Monitor Description

Student monitors are important to the success of the total school program and provides supervision of students throughout the school day to include but not limited to the classroom, hallways, lunch, recess, specials and at arrival/dismissal; helps maintain order and discipline and assists in managing the behavior of students; operates technology; performs administrative and noninstructional duties; ensures all layered prevention/safety protocols and procedures are implemented and followed; works with individual and small groups of students.
